Jan Palach Library is a multi-purpose library established in 2010. It serves as a central library of elementary study literature for undergraduate students (BA) at the CU FA and, simultaneously, as a departmental library for selected institutes and departments. The library collections also correspond to this: elementary study literature of the fields represented at the CU FA, language textbooks and coursebooks, general linguistics, theoretical and computational linguistics, deaf studies, Slavic philology, Baltic Studies, Caucasus Studies, Albanian Studies, Scandinavian Studies, Dutch Studies, Finnish Studies, African Studies, Film Studies, and Theatre Studies. The library collection also includes all book and magazine productions of the Faculty of Arts Press.

Jan Palach Library is the largest faculty library, offering approximately 200 study places, outdoor seating in the courtyard, and one team study room. Computers, self-service multifunctional machines for printing, copying, and scanning, a special book scanner, and self-service kiosks for borrowing books are also available to users.

The library offers tablets, e-readers and laptop loans (services available only to CU FA students, not intended for internship students or students and staff of other CU faculties). The library provides guided tours for those interested. There are also lockers available, as well as long-term rental lockers for PhD students.

You can find us in the basement of the main building; the entrance is under the stairs on the left when facing the café (we also have barrier-free access).
