Printing and 3D printing


In selected CU FA libraries (Jan Palach Library, Celetná Library, Sporck Palace Library), self-service multifunctional machines for printing, copying, and scanning that are connected to the printing service system of CU FA are available. Special book scanners are available to gently scan books in Jan Palach Library and the Department of Art History Library.  

Printing services in CU FA libraries and elsewhere at CU FA are available to all holders of one of the user cards issued by Charles University. CU FA patrons usually have access to the services automatically. Users of other faculties, participants of the lifelong learning courses, and users with the status of external users must ask the service to activate their printing services account before the first use or contact the contact person (see below).  

Recharging credit  

Printing and copying can only be done using your CU-issued card with deposited credit. Copy and print are charged and drawn from the deposited user’s credit that can be recharged either cashless by a payment card via WebPay service when logged in the web interface or by cash via a charging machine (accepts coins only) located in the PC lab at Jan Palach Library.  

Refund of undrawn credit  

It is possible to do so anytime during your studies. After the end of your studies, you should withdraw your balance as soon as possible but at most 1 month after the State Final Examination. The credit can be refunded by transfer only to a Czech bank account based on a filled-in Form. Send the filled-in, signed, and scanned form to or deliver it personally to the residence of the printing services supplier, KYOCERA Document Solutions Czech s.r.o at – Harfa Office Park, Českomoravská 2420/15, 19000 Prague 9.  

More information and selected functions  

  • A print job can be sent from the Faculty’s computers (printer MyQ in the list of printers) and from your own devices via the web interface.  
  • Print jobs can be viewed and canceled in the printer’s interface or remotely via the web interface on  
  • All printers allow direct printing from USB flash drives and scanning into them. External discs usually cannot be used.  
  • When scanning files under 8 MB, the file is usually sent to your default email set in the university user account. When the size is exceeded, a download link is sent to the user with a 24-hour expiration.

Printing services at CU FA, including libraries, are contractually provided by KYOCERA Document Solutions Czech s.r.o CU FA library bears no responsibility for the quality and reliability of these services. The library service assists the users with the essential printer operation. In the case of a printing services outage, the library only conveys the information to a printing issues contact person. 3D printing

About the service  

At the disposal of all registered users of CU FA Library is a dual extrusion 3D printer BCN3D Sigmax R19 with the possibility of printing any items based on one’s 3D models, for example, a teaching aid, replicas for exhibitions, and more.  

General conditions and contacts  

  • The printer is in the CU FA building in Celetná 20, room 104 (1st floor)  
  • All new users of the 3D printer must undergo a 1-hour training.  
  • Printing expenses: 8 primary filaments purchased by CU FA Library are fully available to the users. More prominent formats and prints with special filaments are printed with the material purchased and brought by the user. The user receives more information and recommendations on purchasing suitable filaments at the introductory compulsory training.
