The Department of Middle Eastern Studies has over 20,000 volumes of books and periodicals, mostly in foreign languages, both European and those of the Middle Eastern region studied, mainly Arabic, Hebrew, Turkish, Ottoman Turkish and Persian.
The collection also contains several old prints and manuscripts. In addition to faculty purchases, the library collection is expanded primarily through grant projects by former and current department employees, as well as donations and bequests from the estates of Karel Petráček, Zdenka and Rudolf Veselý, and Jaroslav Oliverius.
