Printing and 3D printing

Printing  

In selected CU FA libraries (Jan Palach Library, Celetná Library, Sporck Palace Library), self-service multifunctional machines for printing, copying, and scanning that are connected to the printing service system of CU FA are available. Special book scanners are available in Jan Palach Library and the Department of Art History Library.  

Printing services in CU FA libraries and elsewhere at CU FA are available to all holders a user cards issued by Charles University. CU FA patrons usually have automatic access to printing services. Users of other faculties, participants in lifelong learning courses, and users with the status of external users must ask for their printing services account to be activated before the first use or contact the contact person (see below).  

Recharging credit  

Printing and copying can only be done using your CU-issued card with deposited credit. Copying and printing are charged and drawn from the user’s credit, which can be recharged either cashfree by a payment card using WebPay service when logged in the web interface https://myq.ff.cuni.cz or by cash via the charging machine (accepts coins only) located in the PC lab at Jan Palach Library.  

Refund of unused credit  

You can have unused credit refunded at any time during your studies. After the end of your studies, you can have the balance refunded, but not later than one month after sitting your state final examination. Credit can be refunded by transfer only to a Czech bank account after filling in a form. Send the filled-in, signed, and scanned form to info.cz@dcz.kyocera.com or deliver it in person to the residence of the printing services supplier, KYOCERA Document Solutions Czech s.r.o at – Harfa Office Park, Českomoravská 2420/15, 19000 Prague 9.  

Further information and selected functions  

  • Prints job can be sent from the Faculty’s computers (printer MyQ in the list of printers) and from your own devices via the web interface.  
  • Print jobs can be viewed and cancelled in the printer interface or remotely via the web interface on https://myq.ff.cuni.cz/en/.  
  • All printers allow direct printing from and scanning to USB flash drives. In most cases it is not possible to use external discs.  
  • When scanning files under 8 MB, the file is usually sent to your default email set in your university user account. For files larger than 8 MB, a download link with a 24-hour expiration period is sent to the user.

3D printing

About the service  

All registered users of the CU FA Library have at their disposal a dual extrusion 3D printer BCN3D Sigmax R19 with the possibility of printing any items based on one’s 3D models, for example, teaching aids, replicas for exhibitions, and more 

General conditions and contacts  

  • The printer is in the CU FA building in Celetná 20, room 104 (1st floor)  
  • All new users of the 3D printer must undergo a one-hour training.  
  • Printing expenses: 8 primary filaments purchased by CU FA Library are fully available to users. More prominent formats and prints with special filaments are printed with material purchased and provided by the user. The user receives more information and recommendations on purchasing suitable filaments at the mandatory induction training.
