The English and Romance Studies Library consists of two main collections. It serves as the main library for Romance studies and disciplines dedicated to Anglophone countries and their literature and language at all levels of study.
In addition to linguistics, dictionaries, literary science, and other elementary literature, you can also find fiction in the Romance section, both in the original language and in Czech or Slovak translations. The library has extensive collections in French, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian, as well as smaller collections of Catalan, Galician and Occitan fiction. The collection contains many books you won’t find in any other library in Czechia, including old prints.
The English part of the collection contains linguistics, literary science, and fiction from many Anglophone countries, including separate collections focusing on Scotland, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. The collection focusing on Ireland is especially unique because it also contains unsaleable unique items imported directly from Ireland, and the collection is constantly growing.
The study room offers up to 11 places to study and 4 desktop computers for student use. The Frantext database is also available on one of the computers.
