The Institute of Ancient Near Eastern Studies Library has an extensive collection comprising mainly the languages and culture of the Ancient Near East (generally cuneiform cultures) and comparative Indo-European and Semitic linguistics. This unique combination covers the linguistic and cultural-historical areas of the region in the ancient period.
The library’s history is connected, among other things, with the personality of the leading orientalist Bedřich Hrozný. Since then, the collection has grown to its current 20,000 volumes. At present, it represents the most comprehensive collection on this subject in the Czech Republic.
