About the Library

The Department of Aesthetics Library was established in 1993 after the split from the Department of Art History Library. The library collection, consisting of monographs, anthologies, journals, and xeroxes, focuses on aesthetic and philosophical literature but also includes books on psychology, sociology, and art history. 

The library has around 6,000 volumes, including journal and thesis collections. The collection was expanded in 1996 with the purchase of Prof. Miloš Jůzl’s estate. Thanks to well-thought-out acquisition activities, despite limited financial resources, and also to numerous grants from department members and purchases of literature from grant funds, a very high-quality collection has been created, as evidenced by the number of loans from students and teachers from many other disciplines.
